Seawitch Candles

Danielle Hockin, owner of Seawitch Stores, a harbour side boutique in the Cornish village of Mousehole, started making candles to sell in her shop after several customer requests for a locally made, good quality, soy wax candle.

She hand pours in small batches from her candle studio at home on the outskirts of Hayle in West Cornwall. Close by lies the much loved and well frequented beach of Sandy Acres where the family enjoy surfing, swimming and walking.

The little shells that decorate the candle jars and fill the diffuser bottles are gathered here and it is this stretch of Cornish coastline which inspired the ‘Scent from the Sea’ collection ~ a range of candles and reed diffusers in 15 coastal themed fragrances.

Candles are made with 100% soy wax, a blend of essential & synthetic fragrance oils and unbleached cotton wicks. The diffusers contain no water, only base oils, essential oils and fragrance oils.

Danielle believes it is her special blend of fragrance oils combined with essential oils that have the candles proving popular not only nationwide but with international customers too. But husband, Rich, thinks it’s the decorative shell that is the secret of their success. Perhaps his role of Chief Shell Driller has made him a little biased?

Either way they both agree that there is something rather magical about sending a little bit of the Cornish seaside all over the world.

Favourite thing about Seawitch Candles?

The use of soy wax as opposed to mineral wax. Not only is it healthier and eco friendly but it gives a clean burn.
